Wiley - Evolve Or Be Extinct

A brand new video from Wiley and Big Dada has hit YouTube today, for the title track of the Eskiboy's recent album Evolve Or Be Extinct . Although "Boom Blast," the house-driven lead single and video from the album, seemed to pick up where his 2008 breakout hit "Wearing My Rolex" left off, Evolve Or Be Extinct has been well-received, and is considered to contain some of his best and grimiest material in recent years. Roxy Music: Love Is The Drug (Todd Terje Disco Dub)

Fun fact of the day: Glam-era crooner-cum-DJ Hell collaborator Bryan Ferry has his own YouTube channel. Seriously. It’s even got some footage of the Kate Moss photo shoot for the cover of his last album, Olympia. But the more worthwhile discovery on Mr. Roxy Music’s page today is this awesome video directed by Ferry Gouw (who you may recognize from his illustrations for Major Lazer) for Todd Terje’s Disco Dub of “Love Is The Drug,” which we featured exclusively last week on Beatport. Tune into Scuba on Beatport Live

Tune in to Beatport Live today at 17:00 GMT (9am PT / noon ET) to catch the Berlin-based DJ, producer and label head Scuba spinning live from Beatport's Berlin HQ. Despite his roots in the outer regions of dubstep, recent years have seen the jack-of-all-trades become something of a jackmaster, as he's dialed down the tempos and dug into deep, cutting grooves that balance bass music's low end with the driven energy of classic house and techno. His new album, Personality, comes out next week; in the meantime, you can get a taste for his ever-evolving sound with "The Hope," a smashing two-tracker that's been lighting up clubs of late. And don't miss the recent output of his label Hotflush Recordings, including new EPs from Sigha, George Fitzgerald, and...

Adam F: When The Rain Is Gone

Adam F’s "When The Rain Is Gone" doesn't come out until March 18, but we've got an early look at the video for the bass enthusiast's latest offering, which, for those who may not have been paying the closest attention, finds the DJ/producer/label head whistling a slightly different tune from his drum & bass days. Yep, even the man responsible for bringing Breakbeat Kaos to the heads has turned his attention to dubstep, and this one fires on all four cylinders. Watch this video on Beatportal

Jeff Mills, Sven Vath, Chris Liebing, and more to feature in Tresor documentary in April

Berlin’s vaunted, vaulted Tresor club is about to star in yet another film about its history, as the venue’s eponymous label prepares to release the documentary SubBerlin: The Story of Tresor, a DVD-CD package, on April 2. In the video above, you can check out a few soundbites from the likes of Jeff Mills, Alan Oldham, Sven Vath, Josh Wink, and Chris Liebing, who make up just a handful of the genre-defining techno stalwarts that help to tell this legendary venue’s story. Naturally, the final cut will also feature interviews with Tresor co-founder Dimitri Hegemann, detailing how he first found the structure in post-Wall Berlin, and turned the basement of a bombed-out department store into the mythical club it would become. Track Of The Day: Krystal Klear & Olivier Day Soul - Never Thought You Would Go

Poor old R&B. I can't help but feel that it gets more of a raw deal than it deserves sometimes. Hip hop continues to be wary of it (who can forget the oft-quoted Wu-Tang lyric "R n' B, rap and bullsh*t, ya know what I'm sayin'?"); pop charts favor its shiniest, least substantial stars; and many people who claim to be longtime fans (myself included) can't seem to move past the New Jack Swing and Nu Soul glory days of the 1980s and '90s. But that's not to say that there's nothing to look towards on the modern R&B landscape, as there are a number of contemporary artists who are committed to taking the genre in new directions. Skrillex: Bangarang

We know, we know... we all scream for ice cream—just not as desperately as the punk kids in the reigning king of dubstep’s new video, “Bangarang.” When we introduced Skrillex’s super-punchy, guitar-dappled electro-house stormer to the world last December, we certainly couldn’t have predicted that its accompanying video would condone—nay, glorify—the violent hold-up of an ice-cream truck. But hey, when you leave the Grammys with an armful of trophies, you sort of get to write your own ticket, right? Watch this video on Beatportal

Track Of The Day: Roger Sanchez and Sidney Samson - Flashing Lights (Kid Massive Remix)

Though he’s been a key player in New York’s house scene for more than 20 years, DJ/producer Roger Sanchez might be busier now than ever before. His decade-old Stealth label constantly kicks out new tunes (like last week’s "Next" from Bobby Burns), he recently starred in a little documentary about his summer spent in Ibiza, and, not surprisingly, he and Stealth have got takeover plans for Miami’s Winter Music Conference in March.
